Ernest R. Forrester was the son of Ellsworth David & Maude B. (Shaver) Forrester. He was born on November 27, 1912 in Hastings, Barry County, Michigan, USA.
Per the 1940 U.S. Census, dated April 3, 1940, he was single and living with his widowed mother and 7 younger siblings in Jamestown Township, Steuben County, Indiana. He was 27 years old and working as an electrician (for "public service").
Sometime between the 1940 Census and 1943, he married Bernice V. Unknown and relocated to La Porte, La Porte County, Indiana.
In the 1943 La Porte City Directory, they are listed as living at "524 15th".
In the 1947 La Porte City Directory, they are listed as living at "524 15th". Ernest's occupation was listed as a machinist at DeLuxe Products Corporation . His brother, Gladwyn, was also employed a machinist there. DeLuxe specialized in building oil filters (and oil filter cartridges) for internal combustion engines.
In the 1949 La Porte City Directory, they are listed as living at "h SS 15th RD2". Ernest's occupation was listed as an assembler at Studebaker in South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana. Gladwyn also worked at Studebaker.
In 1954 & 1956, Ernest & Bernice were listed in the taxpayers directory records together.
In the 1958 & 1960 La Porte City Directories, they are listed as living at W. 18th Road 2. Ernest lists his occupation as a "custodian" at "Lincoln School" both years.
Ernest passed away on May 3, 1983 in Coldwater, Barry County, Michigan. Alternate sources indicate he died in Bluffton, Wells County, Indiana.
A possible child of Ernest & Bernice is Wayne E. Forrester, USAF. Wayne was listed as having lived at the same address as them in 1958 & 1960, while being employed by the Air Force.
