Mary Rovella (Shaver) Johnston
Mary Rovella Shaver was the third eldest child of Joseph Watson & Agnes Colista (Palmer) Shaver. She was born on September 18, 1868 in Chester Township, Eaton County, Michigan, USA.
Her first marriage was around 1887 to a Mr. Cooley.
She married William W. Johnston on January 18, 1891 in Chester Township, Eaton County (her name on the record was Mary R. Cooley).
On the 1900 U.S. Census, Mary and her four son's names appear together under her father's household. The record indicates that she was married for 9 years at the time. William's name is not listed with theirs.
On the 1910 U.S. Census, she indicates that she is the mother of 5 children (4 living) and is listed as "M2" (2nd marriage) and having first been married at age 19 (around 1887). She and her son "Irving L." are listed as living with her parents in Chester Township, Eaton County.
On the 1920 U.S. Census, her marital status is listed as being age 51 and "divorced". She is listed as owning and living at 735 West Seminary Street in Charlotte, Eaton County with her son "Ervin L."
She passed away on March 30, 1921. She was buried at Millerburg Cemetery in Carmel Township, Eaton County.
