Darrel Edson Johnston, Jr.

 

Darrel Edson Johnston, Jr. was the son of Darrel Edson Johnston, Sr. and Mardelle B. (Schmitke) Johnston. He was born on February 12, 1944 in Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan, USA.


His first marriage was to a woman named Mary (last name unknown).


On December 15, 1973, he married Kathryn Lynn "Kay" Madry.


He served his country in the U.S. Navy as well as a police officer in Michigan. He was a lifetime drummer and played with The Southern Ridge Band in Sebring. He was also a member of the VFW, Moose and the American Legion. He was an avid golfer, loved to fish and had a passion for riding motorcycles and sailing.


He moved to Sebring, DeSoto County, Florida in 1995, where he established Outback USA Bait, Tackle and Marina in 1996.


On Saturday, August 1, 2009 (age 65), Darrel passed away in Florida. Per his obituary in the Tampa Bay Online (TBO.com) & Battle Creek Enquirer:

Darrel is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Kay and daughters, Nicole, Andrea and Michelle as well as two grandsons, Jonathan and Braden.


He was buried on Friday, August 7, 2009 in Bellevue Cemetery in Bellevue, Eaton County, Michigan following services held at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte, Eaton County.
